We build and deploy cloud-connected “KOKOpoints” inside local retail outlets, which serve as consumer access points for goods and services delivered in partnership with major suppliers. Our first consumer solution is liquid ethanol cooking fuel, which delivers significant cost savings and quality of life improvements in the multi-billion dollar urban cooking market. In Kenya, this solution is delivered in partnership with Vivo Energy, the company which owns and operates Shell-branded fuels distribution infrastructure across Africa.

Your Role

As Head of Talent, you will play a critical role in leading the next phase of our company’s growth. As a values-driven, hands-on leader, you will set our strategy across the entire employee life cycle and serve as a key adviser to our senior leadership team for all people-related initiatives and issues. What You Will Do

  • Lead the talent team to deliver a world-class employee experience from talent acquisition, on-boarding, performance management, labor relations, and learning & development
  • Develop our human resources vision, strategic plan, and road maps
  • Build, refine, and maintain human resource policies, systems, and processes
  • Develop, improve, and implement corporate compensation and benefits strategy
  • Iterate on our approach to talent development and retention, including performance management and succession planning
  • Identify and implement initiatives to support business growth and ensure strong employee engagement across diverse geographies and cultures
  • Ensure our company values and performance culture remain central as we scale
  • Manage departmental budget and support other department heads to achieve talent-related targets on budget and on time

What You Will Bring To KOKO

  • University degree (Master’s degree a plus)
  • Demonstrated track record of success in management and leadership roles (ideally, 8-10+ years)
  • Experience with recruiting, training, leadership development, employee relations, HR operations, coaching, and/or labour relations (ideally, 3-5+ years)
  • Aptitude for project management, including ability to balance priorities, clarify stakeholder requirements, lead cross-functional efforts, pay keen attention to detail, and generally keep deliverables on schedule
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including confidence with negotiation and mediation
  • Empathetic, people-first mindset & comfort working effectively across multiple countries and cultures
  • Courage to embrace change and challenge the status quo
  • Unquestionable ethical standards and integrity
  • Previous experience at fast-paced, growth-stage, multi-national companies a plus

Job description

  • Manage the success of AdTech platform and services, including strategy, product roadmap, product design and specification, quality, sales enablement and launch
  • Establish a product roadmap based on data, research and feedback from clients, customer success team, marketing and sales
  • Engage and work closely with the Engineering team to help determine the best technical implementation methods, as well as a reasonable execution schedule
  • Assess market competition by comparing the product to competitors’ products
  • Provide source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives
  • Assess product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results
  • Provide information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product impact and value addition forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests
  • Coordinate launch activities for platform enhancements, assess business impact, communicate to stakeholders and measure post-launch impact
  • Determine and assess impact on product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing costs; anticipating volume
  • Closely partner with other ad marketplaces to enhance value delivery to clients
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
