Foreign and Commonwealth Office Job Vacancy 2018

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Leading small team of specialist staff to provide assistance, advice and support to programme teams on technical issues, ensuring that Somalia CSSF complies with best practice in programme and project management from within HM Government, delivered through a team of project managers and technical leads;
  • Ensuring robust financial management and compliance across the Somalia CSSF portfolio, driving accurate forecasting and budgeting
  • Oversight and monitoring of programme impact and risk mitigation, helping the team track and record impact and results; and manage and report on the fiduciary, delivery and political risks on behalf of the Local Strategy Board
  • Focal point for London within the Somalia CSSF team for programme reporting, information management and compliance issues
  • Coordinator of CSSF Somalia communications and publicity activity

Resources managed (staff and expenditure):

Staff: 2 x B3(L) Finance and Portfolio Assistants

Expenditure: £30m annual CSSF budget, overseen by the Portfolio Manager

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

- Advertisements -
  • BA in International Relations, Program Management, Finance, Business Administration or any other relevant degree
  • Experience of programme management.
  • Strong grasp of financial processes and assurances, and how to manage them
  • Confidence and ability to work with colleagues across the team, including with senior colleagues in Mogadishu and London

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Experience of financial management and budgeting, procurement and risk management
  • Experience of working on security, governance and conflict issues
  • Knowledge of communications and publicity approaches
