The BBC is an international multimedia broadcaster on radio, TV, online and social networks with a weekly global audience of 320 million. As part of a historic and exciting expansion of BBC Africa, the BBC World Service is launching new TV, radio and digital content for audiences in Africa.
We are looking for a Multimedia Journalist to join the team and contribute to the planning and delivery of content for our TV and digital operations. Training will be given but you need to demonstrate that you are an experienced journalist who can deliver creative ideas for TV and Digital.
The Broadcast Journalist will work within the BBC Africa Planning team in Nairobi to assist in delivering the very best journalism to audiences in English, Swahili and other African Service languages. You will work closely with planning teams in Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and the UK to ensure that stories are developed and shared to achieve maximum impact.
You will ensure delivery of the highest standard of journalism to our audiences. You will work with Planning Producers and the Planning Editor on the coverage of stories and editorial themes for all of BBC News. We will provide training on how to use a range of digital equipment and technology to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver programmes and content.
Are you the right candidate?
We are looking for a talented multimedia journalist who demonstrates experience of planning for broadcast news content. You will have excellent editorial judgment and a thorough understanding of what elements are required to produce fair and balanced output. You will be expected to script, write and assemble content and packages.
Finally, you will demonstrate a passion for African and international news and current affairs and a strong understanding of digital platforms across Africa.
