The World 2020 programme aims to increase the impact and reach of BBC World Service through new TV and digital content for African including in the following genres – Investigations, Business, Children’s News, Sport and Women’s Affairs. Investigations, Children’s News and Sport programmes have successfully launched with the rest of the genres rolling out later this year.
The Journalist role (Multimedia, BBC Africa) will write and produce stories, snappy catchy copy and bespoke content online, in support of the BBC Africa TV genres. The role will be required to reversion and repurpose television content for digital platforms.
Shift work may be required which could include early/late shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Are you the right candidate?
You will be an experienced journalist with a flair and imagination to craft digital pieces, and see ways to bring complex subjects to digital audiences. With excellent knowledge of social media and BBC digital content management, you will have significant experience of digital and social platforms and the use of analytics. It will be important for you to be able work well and calmly in a live newsroom environment; handle a rapidly changing news agenda, and have the temperament to enjoy the process. Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
